Rookie Kim Min-seon 7 (hereinafter referred to as Kim Min-seon)메이저놀이터 showed her true colours.
She shot a four-under-par 68 in the first round of the 2023 KLPGA Tour’s 11th E1 Charity Open at Seongmunan CC in Wonju, Gangwon Province, to share the lead with Ji Hansol.
Kim is a rookie who made her debut on the top tour this season. However, she had a rough start to the season, missing the cut in three consecutive tournaments, but she is back on track with a tie for 27th at the NH Investment Securities Ladies Championship two weeks ago.
After her round, Kim said, “My shots and putts were much better than in official practice, so I had a lot of fun,” adding, “The course here seems to have narrow fairways, and the short holes are short and the long holes are definitely long. The greens are big and it’s hard to putt if you’re a little off,” he said.
“I hit it really well in the first half today. I was almost three metres in and my caddie helped me a lot. We talked about distance and direction, as well as setting up the right aims for the conditions.”
Kim Min-sun had a bit of a slow start to her debut season. “I didn’t adapt well in the beginning. The weather and green speeds were difficult. Playing on a different course every week, there were a lot of new things, so it was hard to adapt, but now that I’ve definitely adapted, it’s much easier to play and more fun.” “I get a lot of inspiration from my teammates from the national team. When I see them, we talk a lot about golf. We talk about how they play on the course,” she explained.
“Even if I don’t win the Rookie of the Year, my goal is to maintain a stable seeding in the top 30 on the money list and become a player who can aim for the money list or the grand prize next year,” Kim said confidently.
