Potapova explains that wearing the Russian soccer team’s uniform “was not intended to be political”

Anastasia Potapova (ranked 26th in the world)메이저놀이터, who caused controversy by appearing in her native Russian soccer team uniform when participating in the WTA1000 BNP Paribas Open held in Indian Wells, USA in early March, explained a series of disturbances.

Potapova wore the uniform of the prestigious Russian team, Spartak Moscow, when entering her third round of singles at her Indian Wells event. Her actions in the midst of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine drew criticism from many.  

When asked at a press conference after winning her first match at the current Miami Open, Potapova, she said she had no political intentions in the shirt. She went on to reveal that her father had been involved in the construction of the home stadium for her club. “She is very close to the team and is like family. It’s amazing how it’s done,” she said, an unexpected reaction. 

When asked about the circumstances in which it was still unclear whether he would play at Wimbledon, he said that he dreams of playing because “it’s one of his favorite tournaments of the season. I can just pray and hope I can play. If I can play there, it’s It’s a very happy thing,” he said.

No. 27 seeded Potapova is on her way to the round of 16 at the Miami Open singles and she will face China’s Zheng Qinwen (seeded 23rd) in the fourth round.
