Doosan’s new foreign pitcher, Dylan Pyle (27), has yet to make his KBO league debut. He blamed it on the aftermath of an injury he sustained after being hit in the head by a batted ball during spring training.

Dylan, who has entered the recovery phase메이저놀이터, digested two bullpen pitches on the 6th and 9th at Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, a 2nd team stadium. And on the 12th, he started his first bullpen pitching at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul. On this day, he sprayed 51 balls with a mix of fastball, slider, curveball and changeup.

Doosan coach Lee Seung-yeop said, “I’m in a hurry because I’m a foreign pitcher,” and desperately hoped that Dylan would join the starting lineup as soon as possible. However, he explained, “I’m not ready to play yet. The doctor’s opinion is important.”

Regarding Dylan’s appearance in the Futures (second team) league before his first team debut, Lee said, “I’ll have to discuss it with the pitching coach, but I think I’ll have to listen to the doctor’s opinion after seeing the next bullpen pitching.” Dylan plans to throw between 70 and 80 pitches in his fourth bullpen pitching at Jamsil Stadium on the 16th.

American-born Dylan is a right-handed orthodox pitcher with a height of 185 cm and a weight of 92 kg. He was selected (21st round) by Milwaukee in the 2017 draft. In 2019, he was named the best pitcher on the team, and ranked 6th in 2020 and 9th in 2021 in the Milwaukee team pitching prospect category.

His career record in the minor leagues was 34-29 with an ERA of 4.04 in 102 games (90 starts), and in Triple A in the 2022 season, he recorded 8-6 with an ERA of 4.57 in 26 games (19 starts). He has a fastball speed of up to 152 km and an average of 148 km, and uses a variety of changing balls such as curveballs, sliders, and changeups.

Doosan placed high expectations on the performance of the one-two punch leading to Dylan and Raul Alcantara this season. However, at the beginning of the season, the starting lineup is running without Dylan. Alcantara, Kwak Bin, and Choi Won-jun are in charge of the 1st to 3rd starters, and Choi Seung-yong, Kim Dong-ju, and Park Shin-ji are competing for the remaining 4th to 5th starters.

It’s still early in the season, but without Dylan, Doosan’s starting lineup is recording somewhat disappointing results. In nine games played this season, the starting pitcher posted an average ERA of 4.15, ranking eighth overall. As for the number of wins, Alcantara, Kwak Bin, and Kim Dong-joo each had 1 win each, so the total is 3 wins. We need to find stability with Dylan’s quick joining.

Doosan canceled the match against Kiwoom on the 12th in the aftermath of fine dust. Right-hander Kim Dong-ju was supposed to be the starting pitcher, but after taking a day off, he will play the last game of three consecutive matches against Kiwoom on the 13th. Kim Dong-joo made his first debut on the 6th.

Director Lee expressed his anticipation for Kim Dong-ju, saying, “If I throw well today, I will be motivated in the future and enjoy playing baseball.” Kiwoom puts forward Ahn Woo-jin as the first starter instead of Jang Jae-young, who was scheduled to be selected the day before.
