Gerrit Cole, Zach Gallen to face off in MLB All-Star Game…Ohtani to bat second

Gerrit Cole (New York Yankees) and Zach Gallon (Arizona Diamondbacks) will start the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

Major League Baseball held a press conference today (Aug. 11) at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington, USA. The American League and National League All-Star managers, Dusty Baker (Houston Astros) and Rob Thompson (Philadelphia Phillies), announced the starting pitchers and lineups for the All-Star Game the following day.메이저놀이터

Starting for the American League is Gerrit Cole. Cole is 9-2 with a 2.85 ERA in 19 games this season. This is his sixth All-Star selection, but his first as a starter.

“He’s been to the All-Star Game five or six times, and it was time for him to start,” Baker said of Cole, “plus he’s one of the best, and that’s what he wanted.”

Gallon is having the best season of his big league career, going 11-3 with a 3.04 ERA in 19 games, with 11 of those wins coming in the first half alone. With his first All-Star Game appearance, Gallon became the first Arizona starter in 21 years since Curt Schilling in 2002.

“His numbers are unbelievable, and he’s had a great year,” said Thompson, who gave Gallon the starting role.

In the American League, Marcus Simien (second baseman-Texas Rangers)-Shohei Ohtani (designated hitter-Los Angeles Angels)-Randy Arozarena (left fielder-Tampa Bay Rays)-Cory Seager (shortstop-Texas Rangers)-Yandy Diaz (first baseman-Tampa Bay Rays)-Adolis Garcia (right fielder).
