It was a disappointment.
Samsung Lions ace David Buchanan started the 12th game of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League against the KT Wiz at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu on April 23. First start of the second half. Buchanan was 7-6 with a 2.88 ERA in 17 games in the first half.
Buchanan was originally scheduled to pitch on the 21st, but a sudden onset of leg gout prevented him from doing so. He quickly recovered and was scheduled to start on the 23rd.
He gave up hits to Kim Sang-soo and Park Byung-ho in the first inning, but finished the inning without allowing a run. In the second inning, Hwang Jae-gyun grounded out to second base and gave up a single to Oh Yoon-seok, but Moon Sang-chul and Choi Byeong-dae singled.
In the third, he gave up a leadoff single to Kim Min-hyuk, but Kim Sang-soo and Alford added two outs. However, Park Byung-ho reached on a throwing error by Kim Ji-chan, and Jang Jang-woo followed with an RBI single. He then got Hwang Jae-gyun to ground out to second base to avoid a big inning.
Buchanan was unable to avoid a run in the fourth inning. He gave up a leadoff single to Oh Yoon-seok, got one out off Moon Sang-chul, but after a battle with the pitching staff that went down to 13 pitches, he gave up an RBI double to Kim Min-hyuk. Kim Sang-soo and Alford both walked.온라인카지노
The fifth inning brought another run. Park Byung-ho, the leadoff hitter, flied out to center field, but Jang Sung-woo, Hwang Jae-gyun, and Oh Yoon-seok gave up three straight singles to load the bases. Moon struck out Sang-cheol Moon on a wild pitch to give himself some breathing room, but gave up a pushing grounder to Choi Jae-dae.
Buchanan gave way to Woo in the sixth inning after allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and nine pitches with two walks and two strikeouts. He threw 97 pitches. He threw 33 cutters, 21 sinkers & two-seamers, 16 curves, 16 fastballs, and 11 changeups. His fastball topped out at 151 mph.
Buchanan faltered, and so did the next two relievers, Kim Tae-hoon and Lee Seung-hyun, as Samsung lost to KT 7-8. The bats pounded out 17 hits, but the mound struggles prevented them from getting the winning run.
Buchanan made his first start of the second half after overcoming gout in his leg, but he didn’t get the results he wanted. It will be interesting to see what he can do in his next outing.
